Denver, CO, Oct. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As students across the Houston area prepared to return to school, several YES Communities neighborhoods came together to support local families through back-to-school events, school supply giveaways and resident-led donations.
Communities including Raintree Estates, Allison Acres, Misty Winds and Meadowbrook provided local students with resources to help them start the school year prepared. Efforts included distributing backpacks and essential school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, folders, paper, markers, glue sticks and pencil cases, as well as donations of clothing and personal care items.
Raintree Estates partnered with Church Six33, which generously donated more than 300 backpacks for local students. Raintree Estates also contributed pencils, notebooks and folders to help fill the backpacks with essential school supplies. With approximately 100 backpacks remaining after Raintree’s event, the community team reached out to sister community Allison Acres, where residents were able to host an additional backpack giveaway and extend the impact to even more local families.
Misty Winds also saw residents come together to donate school supplies, clothing and personal care items, including toothbrushes and toothpaste. Meadowbrook provided students with backpacks and essential school supplies, with all available supplies distributed within the first 30 minutes of the event.
“Back-to-school season is a wonderful opportunity to come together and support our communities,” said Marissa Peterson, Regional Manager for YES Communities’ Texas-Houston region. “We’re proud of the generosity shown by our residents, team members, and community partners in helping local students start the school year prepared and supported.”
These back-to-school efforts helped make the start of the school year a little easier for local families while bringing neighbors together around a shared goal. YES Communities remains committed to creating welcoming communities where residents can connect, celebrate, and make a positive impact close to home.
