LiveKit Acquires Loophole Labs to Expand Its AI Agent Infrastructure

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 24, 2026 (EZ Newswire) — LiveKit, the platform for building voice, video, and physical AI agents, today announced the acquisition of Loophole Labs, an infrastructure company whose technology will help LiveKit start agents faster and better handle bursts of demand. Loophole Labs’ entire engineering team of eight will join LiveKit, with founder and CEO Shivansh Vij continuing to lead the team.

LiveKit plans to bring Loophole Labs’ technology into production over the next several weeks, with the goal of reducing agent startup times to under three seconds. This will allow LiveKit to respond more quickly to changing demand, reduce operational costs because agents no longer have to sit idle, and move closer to offering customers essentially unlimited concurrent agents.

Founded in 2021, Loophole Labs has focused on solving challenges around application startup times and moving running workloads between servers and data centers. The company developed its own virtualization technology, including a hypervisor called Substrate, to enable workloads to run on and move between machines with little to no disruption.

The acquisition follows a period of strong momentum for LiveKit, including its $100 million Series C financing at a $1 billion valuation in January 2026.
