Ramp Launches Ramp for Nonprofits to Help Organizations Keep Every Dollar on Mission

With Ramp, nonprofits can bring sales tax recovery, grant and fund controls, and documentation for audit preparation into one platform
NEW YORK, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Ramp today launched Ramp for Nonprofits to help finance teams solve two major problems: recovering sales tax they never should have paid and keeping spending aligned with grant restrictions and donor intent.
Ramp for Nonprofits brings controls and documentation into the moment of spend while each organization’s accounting system remains the source of record. Across cards, expenses, accounts payable, and accounting workflows, teams can route purchases to the right owner, code them to the right fund and program, and capture receipts and approval trails to support fund, grant, and program reporting. Ramp already helps more than 13,000 nonprofits put more time and money toward their missions.
“We used to pay up to $20k a year for our AP platform. With Ramp, we’re earning back well over that amount,” said Heidi Coffer, CFO, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. “That’s enough to fund a position, and it doesn’t have to be an accountant.”
Built for program accountability and controls across grant, restricted-fund, and donor-designated spend
Ramp for Nonprofits includes:
- Sales Tax Reclamation: Flag sales tax on card and accounts payable (AP) purchases and build a claim packet for the organization to review and submit to the merchant or state.
- Sales Tax Exemption: Store exemption certificates so staff can pull them up in the Ramp app at checkout, in states that offer an exemption.
- Grant budgets: Set a budget for each grant and see actuals against it in real time.
- Grant manager approval routing: Send card and bill approvals to the grant manager assigned in the organization’s accounting system.
- Grant Policy Agent: Check spend against each grant’s rules, flag what isn’t allowed, and route it for review before approval.
More staff time for the mission
Ramp customers show what that extra time can mean:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of America saves 50+ hours a month, time staff can spend supporting local Clubs and more than 3 million young people.
- Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth cut purchase-order approval time by 90% and saves six hours a month for its two-person finance and HR team supporting teens in crisis.
- Jewish Fertility Foundation reclaimed 454 hours, nearly 11 work weeks, and saved more than $45,000 in its first year, giving its 17-person team more capacity to support families navigating infertility.
- Girl Scouts of the Green & White Mountains cut one staff member’s month-end accounting from 20-30 hours a month to 1.5 hours, giving its team more time to serve nearly 6,000 girls across New Hampshire and Vermont.
“Every dollar a nonprofit spends carries a promise to a donor, a grantor, a board, or the community it serves,” said Kelly Horton, Senior Director, Public Sector Sales at Ramp. “Ramp for Nonprofits helps finance teams get back sales tax they never should have paid, keep grants and restricted funds aligned with their purpose, and maintain a clear record from purchase through reporting, so they can spend more time supporting the mission.”
